Gowoon Dar (고운달) means "the elegant moon". It is OmyNara's omija brandy: the omija wine is twice distilled in a copper still, then matured in oak casks. Lee Jong Ki, the founder, made Korea's first malt whisky before spending forty years turning omija into wine — in the cask-aged Gowoon Dar the two halves of his life meet.
Where the white expression rests in traditional baekja porcelain and is given nothing but time, the oak cask adds colour, spice and depth. The acidity and the five flavours of omija remain, carried on vanilla, dried fruit and wood. The top of our range, available in the smallest quantity.

OmyNara
Omija | Five flavours of a special fruit from Korea.
Omija translates roughly as “five flavour fruit” and unites sweet, sour, salty, bitter and pungent in a single fruit. For centuries it was used in Korea as a medicinal plant; the classic medical text Dongeuibogam describes it as a remedy for hangovers, and King Yeongjo of the Joseon dynasty is said to have enjoyed it regularly as a tonic. Its botanical name, Schisandra chinensis, in older sources also Maximowiczia chinensis, hints at its former reputation in the West: a coveted spice from the Far East that eventually fell into oblivion because it simply could not be obtained.
